HAPPENING THIS WEEK!! 4/7 - 4/10/11

Hey Ho everyone! Sorry this is up at the last minute! I have been super busy gathering some killer stuff for your enjoyment! I have for you an interview with THE MACHINE that I am just getting typed up and ready for you! I will also be going tonight to hang out with DENA CRUSH and getting a video interview for you! (I know right??? SWEET!!) This weekend I will be catching up with HIGHLINE for the BIG announcement you have all been waiting for including the contest winner!! And if all of that is not enough for you,  we will be catching up with HOVER for the release of their album!! WHEW! In the meantime, here is what is going on this week so head out and have some fun!!! Oh yeah, keep in mind that for $5-$10 (and sometimes FREE), you can go out for a full nights entertainment, and an XBOX game costs $50 just to sit home in front of your TV (and sometimes the game just stinks anyway). I think the choice is obvious! GET OUT AND ROCK!!!

INTERVIEW WITH THE MACHINE!!!!!

HELLOOOOOOO BINGHAMTON!!!!!! (I have always wanted to stand on the stage at the arena and yell that, even if no one was there!) THE MACHINE was kind enough to give Southern Tier Scene this interview for your reading pleasure!

As most of you may know, The Machine was a regular act in the southern tier for a lot of years and they truly are phenomenal!!! I have seen the real Pink Floyd in Concert ( yeah, I know, I'm cool like that. ) so I can honestly say that seeing The Machine is as close as  you can get without seeing the original! (And honestly, if you had never seen the original, and no one told you, you would think you were watching Pink Floyd.) They will NOT disappoint you!!! PROMISE!
I can't even imagine how amazing they are going to be THIS FRIDAY APRIL 8@ THE FORUM with the Binghamton Philharmonic. If you love Pink Floyd, this is a MUST SEE show! Tickets here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0000463AEB1DB781
Here is a little something to get you psyched to see them Friday!

Here is my interview with them!

Southern Tier Scene: What is the current line up for The Machine?
 Joe Pascarell - vocals, guitar
 Tahrah Cohen – drums
 Ryan Ball – bass
 Scott Chasolen - keyboards

Southern Tier Scene: How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
” Joe and Tahrah Started the band in 1988. Ryan has been with us for 13 years now. Scott for almost 5 years. Joe met Tahrah in 1985 when she auditioned for a band Joe was in.”

Southern Tier Scene: I remember in the 90’s coming to see you guys in the local clubs, so I know you have been together for a long time but when did you form your band?
“The band started in the fall of 1988”

Southern Tier Scene: What inspired you to become a Pink Floyd Tribute band?
Mostly a love of the music. When we started out , it was not our idea to become a "Tribute band". We were just playing the music we loved the most

Southern Tier Scene: What do you feel the most challenging part of being a tribute band has been?
I think it has been running the business. When you start out, you're mostly playing music and as it grows, you have to become a business person. I think this where most bands fail.

Southern Tier Scene: I noticed that you are playing with an orchestra at the Forum here in Binghamton. Is this something you do for every show or is this one special?
We play with symphonies about 3 to 5 times a year. It takes a lot of work to do it , so I would say that they are special.

Southern Tier Scene: Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?
We have performed all over the US , parts of Canada , Israel , South Korea , Europe , Costa Rica. Personally, I love playing in New York City where we are from. But Israel and East Germany stand out for me too.

Southern Tier Scene: Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you have a set play list or do you change it regularly?
I would say the most performed songs are "Wish You Were Here" and "Time". The set list is always mixed up. We keep track of the lists so that when we go back to a venue , we change it up.

Southern Tier Scene: What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
We very rarely rehearse. We are playing constantly, so we usually work out stuff and sound checks.

Southern Tier Scene: What's your ultimate direction for your band?
To keep inventing ways to keep it fresh and interesting for us, so it is fresh and interesting for those who come to see us.

Southern Tier Scene: What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Do it because you love playing music. Because you will need this love to get you through the difficult times that have nothing to do with music. This is true for most things in life IMO.
( I SO love this answer!)
Southern Tier Scene: Where can people go to find you on-line?

Southern Tier Scene: Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?
Each other, and our fans!

Southern Tier Scene: Any last words?
If you love Pink Floyd , give The Machine a chance :)
Thank you

And a HUGE THANK YOU to The Machine for taking the time to do this interview for us!!!
